Contrary to most news reports, the B.C. Climate Action Team has not focused on carbon tax. In delivering a call to action beyond the Energy Plan and Climate Action Plan, the team has included reviewing the future of the tax as part of the toolbox in getting all British Columbians engaged in a move away from carbon-based energy. The report opens with the Nicholas Stern views on the opportunity from engaging low-carbon economy and while it can be argued that most actions recommended are on that pathway, the report does not emphasize where actions may be strategically advantageous in moving toward that "win.” |
